New Jordans, The Air Jordan 5 “Anthracite” is a recontextualized design of Michael Jordan’s fifth signature shoe that features reflective panels. This February 2021 release switches up the look of the all-time classic Jordan 5 silhouette by employing the reflective material typically found on the tongue to the clear netting on the bottom of the tongue and the mid-panel. Instead of a traditional reflective tongue, the tongue is constructed of a shimmering black textile. The reflective qualities are now located on the design’s netted quarter panel and lower tongue. A Jumpman insignia and the number “23” are embroidered on the heel. Black and silver midsoles with “icy” translucent outsoles complete this design.
This reconstructed and reconfigured iteration of the Air Jordan 5 sees reflective material that’s typically found on the tongue upper moved to the quarter panel and tongue bottom. Mesh panels on the sidewalls offer breathability, and the luxe suede uppers are smoother than ever on this runner! The snug-fitting fabric on the upper hugs your feet, as they adjust to your movements on the tracks! The makeup mixes suede leather, textiles and translucence in new ways while maintaining OG details like hallmark “23” branding on the heel and a splatter finish on the midsole. A mix of black textile and suede form the upper, in addition to a netted translucent quarter panel that is prominent in most Jordan 5 designs.
Jordan Release 2020, Decorated in a Wolf Grey, Anthracite, and black color scheme, the Jordan 5 Anthracite is a collage of materials. Elsewhere, Jordan Brand places soft black mesh on the toe, mid-panel, and eyelets. Plush Anthracite or grey suede detailing is located on the collar, quarter panel, and toe cap. White contrast stitching outlines the aforementioned panels. A blend of grey and black makes up the entire silhouette, giving off a stunning dark aesthetic that will undoubtedly turn heads! A black Jumpman logo appears on the black mesh tongue, on the back of the shoe, and on the insole. Silver shark tooth detailing highlights the black midsole to complete the look.
